About Periodontal

Periodontal or gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. It includes inflammation, infection of the gums, ligaments, bone, and bleeding. It is one of the main causes of tooth loss in adults. Good oral hygiene and regular dental examinations are essential in prevention and early detection of gum disease. These diseases often develop without any noticeable symptoms.

There are two main forms of periodontal disease; Gingivitis and Periodontists. To treat gingivitis, a professional cleaning by a hygienist as well as proper home care using a toothbrush and floss are necessary. We talk about periodontitis when we find sub gingival pockets and bone loss around the teeth. It is then necessary to perform deep cleanings under local anesthesia as well as root planning to smooth the surface of the roots where Calculus (tartar) forms. Our hygienists are also qualified to perform the treatment required, along with a painless, laser treatment of the gums that eliminates toxins and reduces inflammation.
